Kari Garcia, President

About: Kari is an Electrical Engineering major (a.k.a. Black Magic) from Sylmar, CA. She has been a part of the SOLES familia since her first year at UCLA. Every year Kari has held a position including Transfer Representative, Outreach Director, and Vice President. Kari is especially excited to be President this year because of the inspiring people on the executive board. She looks forward to working with them to help people feel at home at UCLA and to provide them with opportunities. These opportunities are more then just hanging out with the super rad executive board; this includes professional development and discussions about social issues and social justice. Kari especially loves tutoring and mentoring K-14 students so they learn about the beauty of STEM. On the weekends, she enjoys the simplicity of watching movies and TV shows on Netflix and chilling with friends. Kari also runs a bit with her beautiful VP Melissa and plays tennis on occasion. She enjoys connecting with people and discussing theories, experiences, and ideas. She likes talking in general, especially about her dog, Rei.

About: Melissa is a third-year Mechanical Engineering Student from Anaheim, CA. Previously, Melissa has held the roles of Freshman Representative ('13-'14) and Treasurer ('14-'15), for SOLES. She enjoys a little bit of everything, ranging from crochet to tennis. She enjoys all genres of music and all types of movies, especially romantic comedies and horror films. On her free time she enjoys carrying out beginner level do-it-yourself projects such as glass etching and sewing. Melissa is a huge fan of Netflix and Lemon Lays chips. When she isn't busy studying for her upper division courses or working for the Logistics and Materiel Management office, Melissa loves to meet new people and learn about the world through different perspectives and opinions.

Erick Corona-Quiles, Treasurer

About: Erick is a third-year Chemical Engineering major from Pomona, CA, and an active member of both AIChE and the Tri-Org. As treasurer, he looks forward to working in conjunction with the board to ensure all programs are well funded to fully support the entire SHPE familia. In his spare time, Erick enjoys playing/watching sports (especially baseball and football), playing strategy games, listening to music (jazz and classic rock mostly), and hanging out with friends. Although often trapped in thought, he's always up for a chat; don't be afraid introduce yourself!

About: Athena is a second-year Chemical Engineering major from Long Beach, CA. She is looking forward to getting more involved in AIChE this year, developing herself professionally through different school opportunities, and being part of a successful SOLES evolution. Athena likes eating at BPlate, binge watching good TV shows, listening to a wide range of music, going to the beach, and spending time with her exceptional friends. During her free time, she likes to tumble and stunt and is part of the UCLA Club Gymnastics team. Hopefully, by the end of the year, she'll be able to do a backflip for you, but in the meantime ask for an aerial.
